David Letterman made a rare appearance today on Live with Regis and Kelly. I thought I’d post a small snippet of the interview here.  In this clip, Dave talks about the recent media attention he received about his affair.

Working on another post for later on this evening with a joke, but here is what I have for you right now:

The Hollywood Reporter has another snippet from the Conan “60 Minutes” Interview.

Conan: ‘Not possible’ that his ‘Tonight’ lost money

A new dispatch from CBS from Conan O’Brien’s “60 Minutes” interview:

Reminded by Kroft that NBC Universal Chairman Jeff Zucker said that after six months, ratings indicated viewers did not want him on the show, O’Brien says, “In my opinion, I don’t think that’s fair or accurate.  But he’s entitled to his opinion. I think for anyone to say that the results were in after six months– that doesn’t ring true to me,” he tells Kroft.  Also reminded that NBC said The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien was losing money, Conan refutes it.  “I honestly don’t see how that’s possible.  It’s really not possible. It isn’t possible.”

So it was announced today in the trades that David Letterman is starting a record company and signed these emo-rtists.  Read more on that story here.

I don’t often get to catch her show (full disclosure: never seen it), but Chelsea Handler has an amusing take on the release of a sex tape that’s worth a view.

In the past day or so, I’ve found I know the exact subject matter of the material I want to write on, but I haven’t found the right punchline.  This seems to be a recurring problem.

If it starts to get really bad again I might return to posting the set up and then coming back to write the punchline later.

But we’ll see if it gets to that point anytime soon.

The Hollywood Reporter has a small snippet of the first part of the interview with Conan this Sunday.

Conan: I would not have done the same to Leno

CBS has released an excerpt from Sunday night’s highly anticipated “60 Minutes” interview with Conan O’Brien:

Conan: I would not have done the same to Leno

Conan “He went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know– I know me, I wouldn’t have done that,” O’Brien says. “If I had surrendered ‘The Tonight Show’ and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well– and then…six months later.  But that’s me, you know.  Everyone’s got their own, you know, way of doing things.”

Asked by correspondent Steve Kroft what he would have done, O’Brien says, “Done something else, go someplace else. I mean, that’s just me.”

O’Brien eventually left NBC, deciding not to play second-fiddle to Leno. He says he didn’t see the point in giving his all in a relationship that seemed to have no future.

“I think this relationship is going be toxic and maybe we just need to go our separate ways,” he says.  “That’s really how it felt to me…and I started to feel that I’m not sure these people even really want me here….I can’t do it [anymore].

New Joke re: Dez Bryant

April 27, 2010

Well, because the demand was literally unbearable, here is your first NEW joke in over two and a half weeks.

Be kind.  I’m rusty.

“It was revealed this week that one of the most prominent receivers in the 2010 NFL Draft was asked by the Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland if his mother was a prostitute.  Ireland later apologized for his remark, claiming the question showed ‘poor judgment’—but added, ‘No, for serious, is she?'”

Not wasting any time, CBS has lined up Conan’s first interview this Sunday (just one day after his ban from appearing on television expires).  AP has more on the story here.

Not sure if any of you caught this yesterday, but during his chat with Dr. Phil, Dave offered his thoughts on the NBC Late Night debacle.

I was originally going to give Dave a hard time for giving a certified boob like Dr. Phil the time of day (or night, really), but the description CBS posted of the daytime talkshow hack in the video description was more than adequate.

Little Ted Danson?

April 27, 2010

I don’t know why this makes me laugh as much as it did, but it involves Ted Danson and David Cross.

Enjoy.

(and yes, since it’s on Adult Swim, it’s fair game for a late night blog)

RNC Blunder

April 26, 2010

Sending in a joke before I fall asleep.  Enjoy.

“News broke Friday that a mailer the Republican National Committee sent out includes a phone number directing callers to a phone sex line.  Callers were said to be tipped off when they thought Sarah Palin sounded a bit too articulate.”
